The Keepsake Story

About us

What a long, strange trip it's been!

I’m Robert Thomson and this is my wife Christine.  For over 28 years, people in the Rochester area have entrusted myself and Christine to capture the important milestones in their family’s lives through our hearts, eyes and lens’.  We're grateful so many of you have have supported us and allowed us to make preserving your families memories our life's work.

Here's the Keepsake story.

I founded Keepsake Photography from the basement of my home in Farmington, NY back in 1988.  I was working as a software engineer for General Motors and doing wedding photography part time.  Business went well and I opened my first professional retail photography studio in Canandaigua in 1992.

Christine and I met at a photography conference in New York City in 1994.  She has a degree in photography from Lansing College in Michigan and was co-owner of Expressions in Photography in Penfield, NY.  We maintained separate studio's for many years.  It was funny when some clients would say, "Hey, doesn't your wife have a competing photo studio across town?"

In 2011, Christine and her business partner of 22 years decided to close their studio and shortly after, Christine joined the Keepsake team. In 2012, we opened a second Keepsake location in Greece where Christine would photograph exclusively (and so we wouldn't kill each other, lol).

Christine and I, along with each of our friendly, dedicated staff invite you to experience the Keepsake difference for your head shots.  Thank you for your consideration.

Respectfully,
